DESCRIPTION

Transgenerational Threads is a comprehensive interdisciplinary investigation that elucidates the influence of epigenetics on genetic expression and neurodevelopment. This session explores how epigenetic mechanisms shape the formation of attachments, inheritance of parenting behaviors, adoption of lifestyle choices (e.g., monogamy or non-monogamy), and transmission of trauma markers exhibited in social behaviors from one generation to another.  What makes it unique is its holistic approach, bridging disciplines such as molecular biology, neuroscience, psychology, and sociology to offer a comprehensive understanding of transgenerational influences on behavior and well-being, enriching our knowledge of human biology and society.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. By the end of this session, attendees will be able to identify role of biochemical processes in the creation of epigenetic markers.
  2. By the end of this session, attendees will be able to critically engage with environmental factors that play a role in the expression of markers and thus genetic expression.
