WORKSHOP [Synchronous/Virtual]

DESCRIPTION

The NeuroSculpting Workshop offers an immersive tabletop game that illustrates the neurobiological consequences of sexual trauma and colonial disruption. Participants will engage in constructing brains subjected to early traumatic stressors, examining how these experiences shape survival circuits, social bonding, and mate selection strategies. By integrating neuroanthropology and trauma-informed sexuality education, this experience fosters a deeper understanding of how historical traumas continue to shape contemporary sexual identities, relational dynamics, and intimate connections. The session concludes with a facilitated discussion on decolonizing sexuality education and fostering resilience through culturally informed healing practices.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. At the end of the session, attendees will be able to recognize the neuroendocrine mechanisms behind trauma, PTSD, and epigenetic inheritance.
  2. At the end of the session, attendees will be able to integrate trauma-informed frameworks into sexuality education for fostering resilience and healing.
  3. At the end of the session, attendees will be able to contrast the effects of tolerable versus toxic sexual trauma on brain development, social bonding, and sexual behaviors.
